As many of you know, the terrorist group ISIS has been trending in American news as their terror of innocent people in Iraq and Syria is steadily growing. Originally, President Obama referred to ISIS as a junior varsity basketball team (New York Times); now he refers to ISIS as “a cancer” (NBC News). So which one is ISIS? A cancer or a junior basketball team? Obviously, seeing from recent events, ISIS has become a threat to the people of the Middle East but is the United States willing to get involved? What are your views on the conflict over reacting to ISIS? Do you think we should get more involved in this conflict, or do you think that the United States should steer clear of all conflict in the Middle East?
I think that since the United States pulled troops out of the region ISIS has had more of an opportunity to expand their operations. I also think that it is the United States’ obligation to defend the innocent people who are getting murdered over there. The military advisors that have been put in place in the region to train Iraqis to fight ISIS is a good start, but I think the United States is going to have to step up to defend these innocent people.
